Donald Allen Obituary

July 8, 1922 - August 10, 2008 Donald Lee Allen, age 86, of Colorado Springs passed away on August 10, 2008. He was born July 8, 1922 in Colorado Springs to Frank and Helen (Lawton) Allen. He was a lifetime resident of Colorado Springs and graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1941. He served in the Thirteenth Army Air Force, serving in the South Pacific during WWII. He then worked as a field mechanic for the City of Colorado Springs for 18 years before retiring. He married Madeline Drury in Colorado Springs December 25, 1944 and enjoyed 63 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife, Madeline; daughter, Donna Allen and son Michael (Elaine) Allen; two grandchildren, Wendy Staples and Christy Allen; five great grandchildren: Kenneth, Jacob, James, Nathan, Aaron. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance and one hour prior to services. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 14 at 10 a.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. Private interment at Shrine of Remembrance.
