I was so sad to hear about Donny's passing as I so fondly remember you calling him. The loss you feel must feel like a mountain on your back and a hole in your heart. Don and I were crew partners in the 448 Missile Squadron back at Grand Forks and some of my fondest memories of that period were of the wonderful conversations we would have on those hour + drives out to the sites. It has been over 10 years since our paths have crossed, but in reading the other entries in this guest book, I can tell Don remained the good person that I remember.

It was my pleasure to serve with Don in first at Grand Forks and later in Colorado Springs and Baghdad. He was an outstanding officer and misileer who was always willing to listen and quick to lend a hand. Nancy and my prayers are with him and his family. He will be missed.

May God grant him eternal rest.

Christy Family,

I was in Don's training class at Vandenberg AFB and then at Grand Forks and throughout I had a tremendous amount of respect for him. His professionalism was always first-rate and he and I had some incredible ping-pong games together while on breaks :-). I was very saddened to hear the news and please know that I have all of you in my prayers. God Bless and may He give you strength moving forward.

Upon turning from being out-of-town for several weeks, I heard of your tragic loss. From all the wonderful mesages I have read on this "guest book", what a wonderful son Art & you produced. My thoughts, along with all the others printed here, is that you will have peace after the mournng is done.

Mr. and Mrs. Christy, I really don’t know how to say how sad I feel about Donny. As you know, Donny and I first met when we were in the second grade. I can remember playing football on the golf course (we would stay out there until dark seeing who could punt the ball the highest and the furthest), spending the night at each others houses, playing with that huge train set in your garage and doing the things that best friends did. It is just simply amazing to be sitting here and thinking about the fun we had as kids (while driving you and my parents’ crazy) and how fast time has gone by. Once we graduated Donny and I didn’t really stay in touch; but I can say the twenty plus years of separation hasn’t made hearing this news any easier when I look back on the relationship we had growing up. Please know my prayers are with you.

I cannot begin to imagine what you are feeling right now and know no words can console your pain at this time, but please know you have many loving arms around you. I did not know Don, but just knowing you, he had to have been a wonderful and loved son and loving person who you and your family will hold close to your hearts. From what I have heard he was a son to be proud of. Hold the wonderful memories close to you so that as time passes you may share those special moments with Ryan and Ben. You are in God's hands.

Donny will be missed. We always tried to keep in contact and I was glad to have spoken with him recently.

We met you at the memoral service; we lost our son, 23 years old, 2 years ago and I lost my dad when I was 15 and I know how you are feeling. Don Christy was one of the finest officers I've ever met. It was an honor working with him while I was assigned to 3 SOPS. He will be missed by many but Don gave us some great memories.
