Donald King Obituary

February 12, 1952 - April 25,2008 It is with heavy hearts that we announce Don's passing into the arms of the Lord. He is predeceased in death by his father, William Elton King, and is survived by his mother, Elizabeth King of Hampton, Virginia, his beautiful daughter, Mary, his beloved son Donnie, and their mother Sunde King, all of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins in Suffolk, Virginia, his birthplace. Don also leaves behind his dog and companion of 11 years, Char. Don's life cannot be summed up in a few printed words but can be seen in the reflection of his children's eyes. They are truly his eternal blessing and he will continue to live on through them. They are his greatest achievement and they will be treasured by everyone who knew him. While he was not born a Coloradan, his heart belonged to its great outdoors. Don loved to hike and fish in the state he called home for 32 years. He helped protect his adopted home by volunteering with the Cascade Volunteer Fire Department and the Wildland Firefighting Team. He also enjoyed his time as a Pikes Peak Ranger. Don was passionate about helping people. He worked at Memorial Hospital and was an EMT Paramedic. His professional life was full of variety. He made friends easily and touched the lives of many. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." A private service is planned with a celebration of his life to be held at a later date. Contributions may be given to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 610 Abbott Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80905 in Memory of Don King and in Honor of the King Children.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Don at Memorial and words can never express the impact he had on all of us. The smile on his face in your chosen picture brings back wonderful memories and will be forever remembered in our hearts. May the Lord embrace Don and laugh with him as so many of us did. Don touched countless lives. He will be missed and never forgotten.

Liz,
I was very sorry to hear of your loss. My Grandmother told me that there is no greater loss than that of one of your children and I truly agree that it would be. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

We all would like to send our prayers out to you. Your son was the highlight of our evenings with his jokes and it was also nice to see him perform his own therapy having you walk endlessly down the halls. Please take care through these hard times.
