Donald Pittenger Obituary

Donald F. Pittenger passed away peacefully June 25, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Pierce City, Washington on May 22, 1931 and adopted by Benjamin and Beulah (Blackwell) Pittenger.

Don graduated from high school in Enumclaw, Washington and received a degree from Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California. He served in the United States Air Force, retiring after over twenty years. He later retired from Litton Data Systems.

Don followed nature's phenomenon especially earthquakes, volcanoes, and tornadoes. He enjoyed Cripple Creek, playing the Lottery, fall in Pagosa Springs, sunsets, and trips to visit family, friends and Hawaii with its volcanoes.

Don is survived by his wife Julia; son William Pittenger of Lawton, Oklahoma; daughter, Wanda (Jacky) Smith of Morton, Mississippi and two grandchildren. He is also survived by Julia's children, Ted (Michiko) Travis of Osaka, Japan; Carol Henry, Brian Travis, Andrew Travis; Jill (Leslie) Travis of Colorado Springs; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Printers Home, 101 S. Union Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910 or Pikes Peak Hospice, 2550 Tender foot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906.
