Donald Schauer Obituary

Don and Lela hired me based on the encouragement of their son Vince who I met on the campus while Vince and I were earning our B.S. Degrees in Civil Engineering Technology.
At the time I was finishing a project with a construction management company out of Minneapolis for the former Cub Foods and PepBoys project on North Academy Blvd in Colorado Springs.
Vince and I graduated from the University of Southern Colorado and my freshman year was on the SC^2 campus (SC Squared campus).
Don always assured me that when Lela patiently waited for his return home after his usual long day at the office that he would attempt to resolve any of my horrible announcements to them when I was either moving on to 'greener' pastures or come back to them with my tail between my legs and practically begging Lela to let Don rehire me!
Then I would disappoint Lela once again and Don would attempt to rescue me!!
Don was indeed a father like figure for me however most importantly was the woman he was married ~ she was better than a stepmother could ever be to me!
I miss you both and especially you Don now that I realize that I failed you somewhat by not staying in contact with you and your entire family as I knew it back in mid '90's.

My sincere thoughts and condolences go out to those of you who have survived Don's passing.
I'm thinking of you right now Don and especially you Lela . . .

Lela, Darol joins me in this expression of sympathy for your loss. This comes as a shock to us. I do hope he had not suffered illness very long and that your family is near to provide support for you.
