Donald Stribling Obituary

Stribling
Donald Reid Stribling
3 July 1934 - 7 October 2017
Donald Reid Stribling died of natural causes on 7 October 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he lived most of his adult life.
Mr. Stribling was a native of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and a post-Korean War era military veteran. He served for four years in the U.S. Air Force as a tactical aircraft electronics technician before attending the University of Colorado, where he received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. His career as an electrical engineer spanned five decades across a range of defense-related research and development, specializing in nuclear weapons effects. He received a related U.S. patent for his groundbreaking work on radio frequency gasket shielding.
Mr. Stribling was an avid hiker and longtime outdoorsman as well as passionate political conservative with an infectious sense of humor. He enjoyed international travel, singing in the church choir, and inventing in his home electronics lab. His middle name, engineering aptitude, and faith in Christ live on through his progeny, who cherish his memory.
Mr. Stribling was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice L. Stribling and Bertha F. Stribling, and his eldest brother, M. Duane Stribling. He is survived by his former wife, Marveen F. Thomas; their two sons, Thomas Franklin and Mark R. Thomas; and three grandchildren, Andrew R. Thomas, Megan L. Thomas, and Joshua D. Thomas. He is also survived by his older brother, James L. Stribling, as well as his third wife, Barbara J. Stribling, and her children.
Mr. Stribling's remains were cremated. A memorial service was held on 15 October 2017 at Saint Paul's United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the church or to the American Heart Association.
