Donald Taylor Obituary

Taylor
Donald "Don" Taylor
November 1, 1936
January 27, 2026

Donald "Don" Taylor, born November 1, 1936, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in Mansfield, Texas. Don spent 48 fulfilling years in Colorado Springs, Colorado, leaving behind a life defined by service, devotion to family, and a steady, easygoing presence that touched all who knew him.
In the early 1960s, amidst a backdrop of turbulence and change in the nation, Don enlisted in the United States Army. His journey into military service was shaped by both circumstance and choice, leading to a remarkable 20-year career marked by discipline, endurance, and unwavering strength. Throughout his service, he completed multiple tours in West Germany, two tours in Vietnam, and a tour in South Korea. These experiences profoundly shaped his worldview and contributed to the resilient and grounded man that his family cherished.
Don's military accolades were numerous, including a Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal, among others. His distinguished service earned him multiple Vietnam Campaign decorations, reflecting his commitment and bravery. Don exemplified what it meant to serve with honor and integrity.
Comfortable with who he was and the life he built, Don brought steadiness and reassurance to those around him, and his laughter came easily and often. He deeply loved music, enjoyed bowling, appreciated cars, and time spent with his friends and family. His sense of humor was easygoing, accommodating, and fun. He had a natural live-and-let-live approach, welcoming people as they were, and by the content of their character.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lisa, his five children (Mike, Cindy, Greg, Brian, Tanya), 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, who will remember him as a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a man whose humor, kindness, and easy spirit will continue to live on through them. Don Taylor will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Blessing Funeral Home, 401 Elm Street, Mansfield, Texas, on February 17, 2026, starting at 10:00 AM. Following the Celebration of Life, an inurnment service will take place at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on February 17, 2026, starting at 2:15 PM.
