Donald Ward Obituary

Ward
DONALD LEE WARD
June 23, 1945 January 8, 2021
On Friday, January 8, 2021, Donald Lee Ward, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, left us on this earth, forever heartbroken. Donald was born on June 23, 1945 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Lee Roy Ward and Arline Ruth (Coughenour). He was always proud to call himself a Colorado native! He worked at Colorado Interstate Gas Company for over 30 years and was able to retire early in January 2001.
On February 14, 1986, he married his beloved wife, Margaret Elizabeth (Harrison) who survives him. They had a wonderful life together for 35 years.
His son, Adam Lee, and daughters, Melanie Charmaine, and Little Jennifer Lea (as she has always been fondly referred to) survive him. His stepdaughter who is also a Jennifer Leigh (fondly known as Big Jennifer) survives him. His grandchildren are Weston, Francesca, Alexander, Peyton, Olivia, and Luke. His Great-Grandchildren are Summer and Savannah. Shirley Welker, his sister survives him, too.
Don was always good with his hands and did numerous "honey-do" projects around their house. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. Don was a great cook and liked to bake and enjoyed eating at Dairy Queen and the Waffle House. He was an avid NASCAR and football fan. He loved all dogs, especially Ernie.
He enjoyed Western movies. Marty Robbins was a favorite and Don bragged that he got to see him in concert.
One of our favorite family stories about him was the time he almost burned down the gazebo with his homemade potato gun. It's complicated! Although, he always denied that story and said it was only a small misfire.
"It's complicated" is how Don explained anything that he could not really explain, therefore it became a family catch phrase.
He was a quiet, loving, sweet, man who will be forever missed by his family and anyone who knew him. Our memories of this wonderful man will be cherished in our hearts always.
