My sweet friend, thank you for caring for me. Thank you for being my friend at AHA when there were only a few. Thank you my friend, for the gossip, the laughter, the thoughtfulness and for the help when I lost my mother. Thank you for being there in the back of the room at her services and for making me smile afterward. Thank you for our lunches and the calls and your way too much time on your hands emails! Thank you for embracing my idea of the Celebrated Girls Club and for adding a few more Celebrated Girls to the list. Thank you for sharing your life with me. I miss you. I am mad at myself that I did not tell you more how wonderful you are and I am sad that I was so busy that we could not get this lunch time thing down. And Donna, whatever is was that took you away yesterday, it had to be really important. Who knew that my heart held so many places for the people I love. And I have come to realize that in the passing of those people, there is s hole left there...a void that no one can fill. And I wonder if in their passing, my loved ones take a piece of me with them. To remember, or not to forget or perhaps to keep me safe? Or if it’s just a hole that remains empty serving to remind me that there was a Donna there, a mom there, an Emily and a Mike Thomas there. Whatever can be attributed to the hold that is there now, I hope Donna, that you will make sure that you make room in your hand for the little part of my heart that went with you. And hold it for me until I see you next time.
