Donna Lindsay Obituary
January 17, 1941-May 4, 2008. The beautiful soul of beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Donna B. Lindsay, departed from this earth on Sunday, May 4th, 2008. Donna was born in Plattsburgh, New York, to Clarence and Margaret Bruce in January of 1941. She grew up in Plattsburgh along with sisters Patricia and Karen, and brothers Dennis and David. After graduating with honors from Plattsburgh High School, she studied nursing in New York City until 1960 when she married John B. Lindsay, an airman in the U.S. Air Force. Donna's first child, Mark James, was born in Plattsburgh in 1962. Shortly after Mark's birth, John was transferred to Anchorage, Alaska. Donna accompanied him to Anchorage, and while there, she survived the Good Friday earthquake in 1964. She also added two daughters to the family, Lynne Ann in 1963, and Michelle Karen in 1965. Later that year, the Lindsay Family moved to the Sacramento area of California, where they lived until January of 1979. Once her children were in school, Donna began working as a teacher's aide in the elementary school. From California, the family moved to Pueblo, Colorado. Here, Donna began a career in retail sales. Most of her experience over the next 24 years came with the Joslins (later Foleys) department stores. During this time she earned several outstanding service awards. Donna also managed to study psychology at Pueblo Community College, earning a 4.0 grade-point average. Shortly before Donna's husband retired, they moved to a 5-acre property near Peyton, Colorado, where she enjoyed peace, quiet, and her 3 grandchildren, Aubrianna, Evan, and Heather. In February of 2004, Donna suffered a severe spinal stroke, and endured several years of rehabilitation to adapt to quadriplegia. Following several hospitalizations in 2007 due to complications from her stroke, Donna's life ended this May after a 4-year battle. Although her physical being is no longer with us, her loving spirit and courageous determination live on in our hearts, forever. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Ave.
