Donna Sutton Obituary

God called Donna home on the 16th of December 2012 after having complications with a recent surgery. Donna was born in Hodge, Louisiana on February 13th 1942 to the parents of Donald and Jeanne Mclean. She was the oldest of 5 children: Charles McLean, Paula McGee, Rosemary Prado and Philip McLean. Donna was a passionate Speech Pathologist spending 35 plus years working with special needs children. She was able to help students develop their learning skills in Georgia, Germany and District 11 in Colorado Springs. Donna worked hard with every child that she had the blessing to teach. She could see the potential in all of them regardless of their mental or physical ability. She had a special place in her heart for her three grandchildren, Elana 7, Jaiden 3 and Mathew 1. Without a doubt Donna did what all grandparents do best "spoil them rotten." There was nothing that they didn't do together whether baking, painting, climbing or fishing she was always up for the adventure. One of her favorite spots in the world was Old Saline Lake in Louisiana where she enjoyed sitting in a flat bottom John Boat with nothing but a cane pole in her hand and a basket full of crickets. She loved being surrounded by cypress trees with Spanish moss reflecting off the still water. Donna had a special light inside her. No matter where she went she brought her beautifully unique perspective on life with her which always made her a new friend and brought laughter to any situation. Donna is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Bill and their two children Sherry Gonuelas, spouse Michael and Rob Sutton, spouse Mindy. They Praise God for the life of Donna and know they will be reunited with her in heaven. A memorial service is planned for Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10:00a.m. at Mountain Springs Church, 7345 Adventure Way, Colorado Springs, Colorado. In lieu of flowers we will be setting up a trust account for the grandchildren.

I just learned of your passing today. My heart is broken in learning this news. You were the best of best teacher. I witnessed this everyday for 10 years, you helped me so very much, year book that we spent countless hours working on, the Freedom Shrine we put together, student council, and the many GOLDEN BELL camping trips we put todether, some many countless activities that went along with our everyday teaching. One of my best moments, trying to decide the color of our camping shirts. You will hold a special place in my heart. You had the best husband "BILL" and kids. God has a special Place for you in heaven.

Donna--it was such a delight to lnow you these past few years. You had such a great sense of humor and our "playground chats" were always such fun. You had such a special connection with our children. We will miss your big smile and fun loving nature. Thank you for your honest and caring way. No doubt you are teaching all the precious ones from Sandy Hook in heaven. Rest in peace dear Donna.

My Dearest Ya-Ya Sister,

You were the sister that I never had! We shared a room at Pike Elementary, we shared our February birthdays, we shared our love of children, and so much more. I love you, Donna, and I will forever hold your memory close to my heart. To know you was to see the special light and love that you radiated. The newest "love" of your life were your beautiful grandchildren whose lives were richer because of you. May the angels cradle you in their arms and keep you safe.

Dearest Donna Jeanne,
You certainly were the light of my life for the years we were lucky enough to work together with our little ones as Speech Pathologists. It's not everyone who can truthfully say....I get to work with my best friend every single day! Thank you for providing me friendship, partnership and being my soulmate during those great years. You will be sorely missed, my beautiful Donna.
May your family be wrapped in God's grace as they learn to deal with life in a different way without the pivotal light source of you. With much love, Claudia
