Dorrie and I were friends for only five years, but those few years enriched my life in ways not to be duplicated again by anyone. Her original home church was Christ Church, London Road, Braintree, Essex, England. As an exchange pastor there in 2001, I took the funeral of her friend Lou Coleman. Not having known either Dorrie or Lou, the task was proving puzzling. Friends of both said to me several times, "It's too bad you can't speak with Dorrie. She could tell you all about Lou and her life." Several days later, it occurred to me that I could, in fact, speak with Dorrie, by overseas telephone. This I did, and we began a friendship ourselves which we both enjoyed. We arranged to meet in Montana at Dorrie's grandson's house in Billings, and had a conversation which it would be hard to top for liveliness. In the summer of 2005, we met again at Flathead Lake in Montana, an afternoon which proved to be our last together. Other signers of this Guest Book have mentioned Dorrie's joy in living. This will be my most lasting memory of her as well, along with her adventurousness, her kindness, and what she contributed to life and to the lives of those who knew her. I am blessed to have been one of these. (The Rev.) Jane Mills, Harlem, Montana

My sweet sweet Auntie. You were my own very special grandmother; I loved and always looked forward to our special visits when we would talk away the hours. You were so bright and had such a knack for remembering each and every detail of a story. We are so blessed that you moved here and that your great grand kids had the chance to get to know as well as they did. They also adored you. I will remember our boating trips over the years; especially last August when you were laughing like a little girl with every wave. You were an amazing lady; You enjoyed life in a way that I am going to try real hard to copy!!! I will not succeed, there has and only ever will be one Auntie. I love you with all of my heart, I miss you already. Kathy Weller & Amanda, Ryan and Josh

Dorrie, Our fond memories of you go back so many years! Our wonderful visit with you in your beloved English countryside, your teaching me the "proper" way to make tea, our fish fries together in Pensacola, the boys playing together and sharing the comic books you sent from England, our phone contacts and Christmas exchanges. There is so much to give me many smiles. I have carried my kleenex cover, one you made,in my purse each day since you gave it to me as a reminder to smile and think of you! Have tea with the Queen Mum and smile on us as we continue the journey and await the grand tea with you in Heaven. Love Gloria, Ralph, John and Steven Lockhart

We love to spend time with Dorrie during the holidays and hearing her stories of her past and the war stories (WWII). Dorrie gave her heart to Jesus in 2000 and now the angels came and lifted her up to Heaven into the presence of Jesus.
