Dorothea "Dottie" E.E.

(Alfonsin) Watkins

April 14, 1948

February 12, 2022

Dorothea "Dottie" E.E. Watkins found eternal rest on February 12, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

A beloved mother, wife, daughter and sister, Dottie was born on April 14, 1948 in Schwabach Germany, a country she always loved, to Albert and Elfriede Alfonsin. Growing up in Colorado Springs she attended Pauline Memorial Catholic Grade School, Benet Hill Girls Academy, Mt. St. Scholastica and Loretto Heights Colleges.

After attending college, Dottie married and moved with her husband and twin sons (Zach and Jake Wooten) to Renton, Washington; a third son Adam Wooten was born there. She also lovingly raised a step-daughter, Cheryl Watkins. In Renton, Dottie worked for the Boeing Corporation and later in special education; she also found time to hold leadership positions in the Mothers of Multiples Club.

Dottie then moved back to Colorado Springs, where she graduated with a B.A., Summa Cum Laude, from Regis University; worked for Junior Achievement and then later as a medical copy editor.

Dottie never met a dachshund, a mountain view or a thrift store that she didn't like. Her other passions included music (particularly show tunes) and working with the Benet Hill alumni association. Along with her mother and sister, Dottie was active in the Colorado Federation of Garden Clubs for several years acting as newsletter editor.

She will be missed by so many who loved her. She is survived by her sons, Zach (Angela) Wooten and Jake (Darcie) Wooten; her daughter in law, Callie Wooten; six grandchildren, Kaelyn, Alysha, Emily, Chloe, Brandon and Ayden; her mother, Elfriede Goeben; her sisters, Trudie (Phil) Layton and Barbara Goeben; her brother, William Von Goeben; numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and nieces; Marty Wooten (former spouse); Thomas Watkins (former spouse); Christopher Pallen; various friends and her three dachshunds.

Dottie was preceded in death by her beloved son Adam, her father and step-father, and two brothers, Henry and Freddie.

The family has plans to hold a memorial Mass at a latter date. Memorials may be sent to Benet Hill Monastery and Retreat Center, 3190 Benet Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80921.

I remember the trouble Trudie and I always caused Dot..she was like my big sister in high-school. She led a good life and it sounds like she had so many who loved her. My sympathy and love to her mom and whole family. XX
