Dorothy J. Evans, 81, of Monument, CO unexpectedly passed away on October 28, 2022 at her home. She was the second of nine children and grew up in Peterson, MN. She moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1961 where she married and had 3 children. She was employed at Farmers Insurance for 26 years and continued to work at various other part time jobs long after her retirement.
She was a member of and babysat for the Family of Christ Lutheran Church in Monument. She enjoyed working the CrossMark demos for years at Walmart, Safeway, and King Soopers. Dorothy was well known for her beautiful knitted baptismal blankets, knitted family baby gifts, handmade quillows, and her tasty holiday sweet potato souffles. She enjoyed learning how to play the piano, was an accomplished bowler, and loved shopping and reading. Dorothy made many trips to Minnesota for family events of all kinds. Many of these events included family canoe trips and those stories have become legendary among the family. She was fearless, ready to take on any adventure, and used to love sledding with her family on snowy days.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters Patti and Kelly, and her son Brian, two grandsons Sean and Scot, her siblings Larry, Faye, Bob, Keith, Carol, and Lori, and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arlene and Arnold Pederson, and her brothers Wayne and Ken.
Final arrangements are being made by the Shrine of Remembrance in Colorado Springs, CO where she will be cremated. Her ashes will be scattered by her family in Colorado and Minnesota.
