Dorothy Hobbs Obituary

Dorothy M Hobbs, 98, of Colorado Springs, formerly of Ellicot, died Saturday June 28, at Sunny Vista Living Center. Dorothy had been failing in health the past 6 months. Dorothy was born to Ernie and Dimple Cox June 9, 1910 in DuQuoin, Illinois. She spent her childhood in Illinois and Colorado. Dorothy married Edward T. Hobbs October 25, 1931 in Colorado Springs. Dorothy and Ed raised cattle on their ranch in Ellicot until her husband's death December 4, 1980. She moved to Colorado Springs in March 1989. Dorothy enjoyed Tri Chem, quilting, cookie and candy making, and spending time with family and friends.She was a member of Ellicot United Methodist Church. Dorothy is survived by daughters, Deborah (Ronald Paul) Hobbs of Gilbert, AZ; Donna (Richard) Lundquist of Paxton, Illinois; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Dale and Dwight. A celebration of her life will be held 2 PM Thursday July 3, at the Villa at Sunny Vista, with Reverend Gene Sharp officiating. Cremation rights will be accorded. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial Donations can be made to Ellicot United Methodist Church. Funeral and Cremation Care 930 S. Sorry, we saw this too late to be at the memorial. Dorothy Hobbs was a wonderful, warm hearted woman. Have many great memories of UMW and church with her. She also taught me Tri Chem. She raised children as great as she was. As Reverend Lois would tell you--keep all your joyous memories in your heart right now.
