Dorothy Imogene Hoover, age 82, of Limon, CO went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2009 in Limon. Dorothy was born March 28, 1927 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Paul J. and Willa Mae (Shults) Peats. Dorothy graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1944. Following graduation, she married Evan (Steve) Waters in 1944 in Colorado Springs, CO. To this union, three children were born. Dorothy then married Thomas Hoover in 1968 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which later dissolved. Dorothy worked on the secretarial staff at Ft. Carson Army Base from 1958 to 1963. She enjoyed using her office skills for the First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs as a receptionist and secretary for Rev. Green and Rev. Long from 1963 to 1968. Dorothy lived in the Rush, Colorado community for twenty-five years where she and Thomas farmed and ranched. She enjoyed taking care of her farm animals and assisting with the everyday chores on the ranch. Dorothy loved to cook and bake for family events. Each fall, she canned fresh fruits and vegetables. She was an avid reader, worked crossword puzzles, and enjoyed playing the piano at home and at church. Visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were cherished moments. Dorothy was also a youth group leader for the Rush United Methodist Church where she attended. Dorothy moved to Limon in 1996, where she attended the Limon United Methodist Church and the Matheson Community Bible Church. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, one son David Waters, a sister Lois Ringler, and a niece Kathy Simmons. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Debbie and Ray Thieman and Cheryl Waters all of Limon, CO, brother Les (Bob) and wife Micki Peats of Windsor, CO, brother-in-law Jim Ringler of Colorado Springs, CO, grandchildren Chad and wife Tracy Thieman and their children Aaron, Matthew, and Nathan of Simla, CO, Brent and wife Kelly Thieman and their children Katie, and Ben of Thorton, CO, Carrie and husband Shawn Bennett and their children Chris, Cody, Cannan, and Cale of Limon, CO, and Rebecca and husband Curtis Stanko and their children Wyatt and Ty of Ramah, CO. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Love Funeral Home in Limon, CO with Pastor Chad Thieman, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pershing Memorial Cemetery in Limon. Visitation will be held Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Love Funeral Home in Limon.
