Dorothy Palmer Obituary

Dorothy L. Palmer April 22, 1921 - March 13, 2008 Dorothy Palmer, 86, passed away on March 13, 2008, after a brief illness. A resident of Colorado Springs for over 50 years, Dorothy was originally from Iowa and never lost her down-to-earth Midwestern outlook on life. Dorothy was creative, determined, intelligent and independent. She led a multi- faceted life that was uniquely her own. As a young woman, she was a gifted dancer (ballet, tap and modern). She graduated from Grinnell College with a degree in physical education. She successfully ran her own business, The Industrial Beverage Company, while raising three children on her own. She loved to travel and visited many interesting places including Ireland, Hawaii, New Zealand and Newfoundland. She had a passion for sewing and knitting, often creating her own designs and patterns. When Dorothy retired to the Village at Skyline ten years ago, one of the areas on which she focused her considerable insight and enthusiasm was participation in 'Lit and Wit,' the monthly book discussion group. Dorothy was a founding member of the Broadmoor Community Church. She was also a friend of Bill W. for over 28 years. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Cynthia Blumenthal, Kelly Murphy (Ted), and Craig Palmer (Fran), her three grandchildren, Patrick Santini (Zoe Quinn), Christopher Santini (Lucie Degrange), and Amber Palmer, and her two great grandchildren, Siadan and Ze. Among her many friends, she is particularly missed by Patti, Phyl, Ann, Peggy, Eileen, Martha, Betty and Sam. In accordance with Dorothy's wishes, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice or the Skyline Cares Fund at Village of Skyline.
