Dorothy Marie Powers passed away on December 25, 2017. She was born on January 15,1931 in Hobert, Oklahoma. Dorothy was married to Ray Dunning for 25 years who preceded her in death. She later remarried Senator Ray Powers whom passed away in 2008.
Dorothy leaves behind her son, Steve Dunning and his wife Judi. She has four grandchildren: Melissa Brugh, Clint Dunning, Stephanie Hazelton, and Audray Hunt. She was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren: Zoe, Ezekial, Jarren, Makenzie, Mercy, Dylan, Madison, Victoria, Zachary, and Karlie.
Dorothy led a beautiful, active life and loved her family and friends deeply. Upon leaving Oklahoma she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. After retirement, she moved to Green Valley, Arizona. In her earlier years, she was a dairy farmer, a flight attendant, businesswoman, and a politician's right hand woman. Dorothy traveled the world and loved new experiences.
She loved going to the theater, playing bridge, attending church, political events, and family gatherings.
Dorothy will be in our hearts forever. We are grateful for the beautiful memories we have of her life. She is a treasure that we will never forget.
A brief celebration of life for Dorothy will be held at Memorial Gardens at 3825 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80910 at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 5th.
Cards can be sent to 6216 Stemwood Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Peppi's House Tucson (hospice care) or The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.

It is with a sad heart that I say good bye to Dorothy. Ray and Dorothy through a wonderful wedding shower party for me and Patty. So I reckon it is a good thing that they both are not alive to know that Patty and I are no longer together. So it is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye Dorothy at least you can now join Ray in heaven

Dorothy & Ray were part of the start-up committee for the Colorado Club in Green Valley back in 2006. All the original members of the club will miss her a lot. I will bring her obituary to our January 6 meeting.
