DOUGLAS A. BENTON

Douglas A Benton, 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 16, 2020, in Colorado Springs, CO.
A memorial service will be on Tuesday, July 21, at 11:00 at Allnutt Funeral Home in Greeley, CO. Visitation is at 9:30.
He was born June 3, 1937, in Greeley, Colorado to Wilbur and Georgia Kumleh Benton. He married Dorothy Brock on June 28,1964. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Charles Edward Benton.
The most important part of Doug's life involved his faith and his family. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1969. Dorothy was the love of his life, and his children and grandchildren are his most important accomplishments.
He earned a B.A. in Science from the University of Wyoming, an M.S. at Colorado State University, and his Ph.D. from Arizona State University. He was a professor at Colorado State University in the College of Business for over 30 years and genuinely loved his students. He was an active member of Gideons International and the Evangelical Free Church.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur and Florence Benton of Eaton, CO; daughter and spouse, Sheryl and Wayne Larsen; son and spouse, William and Lori Benton; his grandchildren, Mitchell and Kristina Garner, Matthew Garner, Braiden and Brooke Garner, Aurora Garner, Bryson Garner, Michael Wagner, Jr., Hannah Wagner, and Elizabeth Benton; and his great-grandchildren, Beckham and Ryker Garner.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Evangelical Free Church of Eaton, CO. or Gideons International.

Always great to usher w Doug. I learned so much about N CO from him and he had friends everywhere. Then we had the joy of knowing him in Gideons also. Both he and Dorothy were a special joy to know as friends. We loved them and will see them again. George and Carol Landsverk

Coach Heavenly Father drafted the greatest at his position with this pick. Doug was a true friend. Eventhough he was forty years my junior. I genuinely love this guy. He invited me to go watch one of Bills games with him and his girlfriend Dorothy. One day he invited me to go with him to visit Dorothy. Doug would ask Dorothy, "Do you know who that is"? She would say, "Yeah that's Bill". Doug and I both laughed so hard. She didn't know my name but she identified my as someone she loved. That was enough for me. Dougie Fresh you were a blessing to my life. I will always be grateful for your guidance and wisdom you gave me in a very short sample size of time. I didn't grow up with a father in my life. If I could've imagine what a real father would have been like, Doug is exactly what I would imagine. I love you Big Fella. Until me meet again.

Your dad was a special professor to me at CSU. He inspired me to reach further and higher and launched me on my successful business career in Colorado Springs. I have recently retired unaware that he was living here. Whenever I speak of my college years and Business classes, I always speak of and remember him.

What a joy it was to know Doug Benton. He was a real class guy and a strong follower of his Lord and Savior. First got to know him by ushering at Faith E Free Church. For a new comer then, I learned Doug had so many wonderful friends and knew so much about the No. Colorado. Later we became brothers in the Gideons so would get caught up with him at distributions and get togethers. Always a joy spending time with him. Look forward to seeing Doug and Dorothy in heaven.
