Dr. Janice Roth Obituary

Janice A. Johnson, age 61, passed away October 22 early in the morning after a long fight against breast and lung cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, friend and podiatrist. She was born to Harold and Betty Roth in Colorado Springs on June 9, 1950. She had three siblings: Shirley Bauer, Walter Roth, and Larry Roth. Janice graduated from Wasson High School in 1968 and Adams State College in 1972. Her will to help others drove her to continue her education at Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. After graduation she started her practice in Salida, CO where she met her future husband, Willis Martin (Marty) Johnson. They were married on January 12, 1980. After their marriage, she moved to Colorado Springs where she practiced podiatry for the next 30 years, much of it with the help of her assistant, Sally Bane. They touched many lives and healed many feet. Janice enjoyed spending time with family, listening to talking books, appreciating the outdoors through hiking and walking her dog, Leo, making stained glass, and gardening. Janice is survived by her husband, her two children; daughter, Lora Zimpfer (husband, Greg) and son, Scott Johnson. She is also survived by her siblings: Shirley (husband, Chuck) Bauer, Walter (wife, Melanie) Roth, and Larry (wife Patty) Roth. There will be a memorial to celebrate her life at 1:00 PM, Friday, October 28, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, 219 E. Bijou St., downtown Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pikes Peak Hospice or American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made to www.evergreenfuneralhome.org.

The news of Janice's death leaves me with such sadness. I had been a patient for many years. I drove from Denver to see her because she was such a loving person and a fine podiatrist. She loved her patients and they loved her. She always loved to talk about her family, who she adored. I will miss her. I will keep her family in my prayers. I will always remember her cute laugh, generous spirit. Janice will he hard to replace but I am happy to have known her.
