Dusten Sorrentino Obituary

Dusty Sorrentino passed away at age 84 on Feb. 12th, 2015 in Pikes Peak Hospice after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Dusty was born on September 30, 1930 as a native of Wisconsin and then moved to California as a young lady. There she met Joe Sorrentino and had two boys, Anthony and Christopher. In 1988, she found her way to Colorado, then to Missouri, and back to Colorado, where she has resided since. Dusty considered Colorado her home where she worked until her mid 70s as a proofreader for printed materials.

Dusty was an active member and a pillar of the Alcoholics Anonymous community. She has attended and held meetings for over 31 years. She started a meeting at the Canon City Prison and drove down every week, for years, just to bring the meeting to the prisoners. In recent years she has headed the Thursday meetings at Clean Slate. You can hear Dusty's inspiration voice here: http://www.cleanslatemeetingplace.org/about.html Dusty has helped hundreds of people, young and old, to recover from alcoholism.

Dusty is survived by her family, Anthony (Andrea) Sorrentino of California, Christopher (Elisa Fierro) Sorrentino of Kansas, Angela Sorrentino of Colorado, her grandsons Joey Sorrentino of California, Matthew Sorrentino of Colorado, and Nicklaus Sorrentino of Colorado, her beloved Cissi (Australian Shepard) and many friends that sat vigilantly at her bedside so she was never alone. Dusty will be missed by all, as she has touched so many hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19th at 11:30AM for all of her friends and family to gather. This will be held at Clean Slate, 1769 South Eighth St. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80905.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Clean Slate organization.
