Dwight O. Davison was a man of deep Christian faith, devoted husband, involved father, active grandfather, and caring friend. Dwight was born in rural Illinois. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and served honorably in the Navy for two decades, specializing in submarine operations. During that time, he pursued graduate studies in computer science. After retiring from military service, Dwight continued working in the Washington, D.C. area in various professional roles, eventually retiring in 2015. Even after two careers, he remained active—reading, writing, volunteering with international ministries, and serving in his local church. Dwight and his wife Karla were married for over four decades. They have three sons: Daniel and his wife Ashley, Caleb and his wife Anna, and Nathan and his wife Ashley. They are blessed with nine grandchildren. Throughout his life, Dwight's faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of everything he did. The Bible was his source of strength and direction. He was known for his quiet strength, humor, generosity, humility, and his willingness to invest in others. A meaningful Scripture for Dwight was Psalm 91:1-2, which says, "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty." A memorial service will be held on July 25th at 10AM at Woodmen Valley Chapel in Monument.

My thoughts and prayers are with Dwight's family as they deal with the tragic loss of Dwight. He was a strong Christian, a true patriot and a good friend. His family can take some comfort in knowing how positively he touched many people's lives and knowing how much he will be missed by many.

The last time I communicated with Dwight was on September 16, 2024. My wife and I were visiting the Naval Academy and, through texts, Dwight helped guide us on our tour. When I spoke with Dwight at our 50-year high school reunion in 2019, it was as if no time had passed.

Dwight and I were high school classmates. We were both trombone players in the high school band, played football and basketball together, and were band mates in a very mediocre high school rock band.

Dwight was a close friend, and he will be missed.

(several schools) I graduated from USNA Class of 1974 with Dwight as a brother in Christ.
then we graduated from NucPowerSchool Bainbridge, MD.
then we moved to CT and SIC Nuc Prototype. We were almost roommates. Dwight lived in the apartment next door. Six of us shared a few months of fellowship with Wintonbury Baptist Church before we graduated. Then briefly to Submarine School (Groton, CT) and the US Navy scattered us . I vaguely remember a trip to Boston with Dwight to see the original Star Wars. (Sadly since then we have lost touch). Condolences to Dwight's family. Glad to read how he and all of you have remained faithful to our Lord all these decades.

It was my pleasure to attend the Naval Academy with Dwight. Dwight was always helpful, kind, calm, brilliant, played a great game of tennis, and was tall, dark and handsome! Dwight stood out also as a dilligent student with intense attention to details with a great memory. After we graduated from school Dwight went East and I went West and we lost frequent contact then caught up a few years ago when he moved to live close to his family. It is a sad surprise to learn of Dwight's passing and my wife and I send our sincerest condolences to Dwight's family.

Dwight was always ready to exercise his great wit and his wisdom of the word. We enjoyed his company every time we were together. He was a servant to our family along with Karla. We will miss him but know he is only absent from this world. We, with hope in Jesus, will see him again. We share the family's sorrow and offer sincere condolences. Love, Rand and Alice Long

It was a shock to hear of Dwight's sudden passing. He was full of life and plenty of wit to keep you on your toes. His dedication to our team, even as a volunteer, surpassed not just expectations but also the mutual affection that we felt. I am greived to know I will not get to learn more from him while I walk on this side of the grave. Lord, come quickly!

Dwight and I intersected at the US Naval Academy (he was Class of '74; I was class of '76). We were both involved with a Christian organization called the Navigators. In the highly structured and competitive environment of the Academy, in which leadership is forged, Dwight was genuine, exhibiting a leadership style characterized by grace and humility. He truly modeled Christlikeness -- and to a young Christian like me, he made a profound and positive impact. My sincerest condolences to and prayers for the family and to his friends and shipmates! "Fair winds and following seas," my friend!

Dwight was a man with great Christian faith and integrity who, while seeming quiet, also provided great insight with every comment. He will be missed. May God bless his family.
