Dwight Teakell Obituary

Dwight Nathaniel Teakell, a long time resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on October 19, 2006. Dwight was born on April 12, 1933 to Elmer and Maudie Teakell in Mountain Park, Oklahoma. He moved to the Colorado Springs area with his family in 1947. On April 23, 1953, Dwight married Norma Gene Henderson of Drennen, Colorado. Dwight served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a seaman. Upon discharge from the Navy, Dwight and Norma moved back to Colorado Springs to raise a growing family. Dwight was employed with Meadow Gold, Oak Farms, and King Soopers. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Grady, Bill, and Patrick Teakell and a sister, Loretta Mae Teakell. Dwight is survived by his wife Norma of 53 years, six children, Kenneth (Olga) Teakell, Janet (Johnny) Keith, Nancy (Chuck) Graner, Delbert (Janet) Teakell, Carman (Brian) Miller, and Glenn (Cheryl) Teakell, a sister Letha Joy (Bill) Acton, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dwight was an avid Broncos fan and sports enthusiast. He also enjoyed singing, dancing, reading, fishing, and bowling in which he once rolled a 298 game.
