Ed Hightower Obituary

Delta resident, Ed Hightower, passed away peacefully at his home next to his loving family on Sunday, December 21, 2008. He was sixty-five years of age. Ed Hightower was born to Ora Hightower and Alma Stone on September 27, 1943, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Monument and Black Forest, Colorado. On November 22, 1963, Ed married the love of his life, Mary Rush in Castle Rock, Colorado. To this union four daughters were born. Ed and Mary resided in Colorado Springs for over 20 years, before moving to Delta in 1992. Ed and Mary had the honor and privilege of celebrating forty-five years of love and marriage together this year. Ed was employed in construction and as a truck driver for many years. More importantly, he was a loving husband and father. Ed loved the outdoors whether he was hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers with family, or raising livestock. He also enjoyed singing, playing his guitar, and spending time with his loving family and close friends. He was definitely a "rough rider". Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Hightower; four daughters: Lea Ann Ingraham of Syracuse, NY; Mary Jo Boltz of Tucson, AZ; Cindy Hightower of Delta, CO; and Linda Hightower of Tecumseh, OK; mother-in-law, Carmen Rush of Delta, CO; sister-in-law, Connie Heronemus of Delta, CO; four sisters: Jean Sills, Kaye Belveal, Eileen Rhodes and Bonnie Whitney all of Colorado Springs, CO; and a half sister, Mary Moreno. Ed is further survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Alma Hightwoer; father-in-law, Lewis Rush; one brother, Ora "Punch" Hightower; one great niece, Cody Dawn Park; and several aunts and uncles. Upon Ed's request, no formal services will be held. An informal reception will be held Sunday, December 28, 2008 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., 1160 East 5th St., Lot 8, Delta, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed;s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 24, Delta, CO 81416 Or to Delta/Montrose Home Health, P.O. Box 10100, Delta, CO 81416. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
