Eddie Lee Jones Sr passed away Wednesday, February 16 in Penrose Hospital from COPD and pneumonia.

He was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on June 17, 1930 to Eddie and Lee Etta Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife Marian, and his two sons Dennis and Eddie Jr. He is survived by his daughter Denise, his son Doug (Chris) and grandson Fredric.

Eddie worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a young man and then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served and retired after 20 years. After receiving his BS degree in sociology, he then went to work for the Colorado Springs City Utilities where he retired again after 20 years.

Eddie fell in love with Jazz and Blues while growing up in Chicago, Illinois. That is where he learned to play the piano by ear. During his working career he also played as a jazz pianist. Eddie played at the Cotton Club in Colorado Springs. He often played at the Broadmoor, the Antlers Hotel, and many other clubs and private parties. He was part of the Pikes Peak Jazz Association and one of the distiguished musicians of his time.

Eddie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be truely missed.

There will be a Celebration of Life on March 11, at 11:00 am, at the AGAPE a Church Community, 4965 Barns Rd, Colorado Springs, Co. A memorial service with honors will be held at 2:00 pm where Eddie's remains will be interned at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
