Eddie; A Friend,an example, and a lesson in life. It has been a prevledge to have been able to share a portion of Eddies life and watch his recovery through the Program and his growth athletically, and with the help of the USOC and friends his success on the World Arena with a Gold in London and silver in Dubai. My friend did not have to say much to express his big heart and care of others. He taught me to never give up and trust God no matter what. Eddie has left a deep impression on many and was blessed with a very special Mother. Eddie rests in peace with God who loves him.

WE NEVER WALK ALONE
The time comes when those whom we have loved the longest and the best will travel far ahead into a place of joy and rest...
And we must walk a lonely path through shadows for a while without a certain kindred voice, a dear, familiar smile-
Yet each day brings us nearer to horizons yet unknown and even when the way is dark, we never walk alone, For memories travel with us toward the happy destination where we will join our loved ones in eternal celebration.
May the warmth of tender memories and love of those around you bring you comfort and peace.

The LORD is my sheperd,
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down
in greeen pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths
of righteousness
for His names's sake.
Psalms 23:1-3 (KJV)
May He keep you in His care,

God's Gift Of Time
We all need a time to grieve-
a quiet time for reflection
to sift through precious memories
and come to grips
with what has happened.
We all need a time to let the tears flow, not for the ones we lost,
who are at peace in heaven,
but for ourselves as we realize
that things will be different now.
We all need a time to just "be,"
when we can open ourselves to God
and let the reassurance of His everlasting love
start to heal our broken hearts.
God gave us the gift of time,
and one of its greatest uses
is the healing of a broken heart.
Even during you darkest nights,
God has promised to hold your hand.
He will be there to comfort you,
and He will give you strength
to face this time of sorrow.
I am so sorry for your loss!
God Bless

My Son Eddie,

I thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new.

I thought about you yesterday and the days before that too.

I think of you in silence. I often speak your name.

All I have are memories and your picture in a frame.

Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part.

God has you in his keeping, I have you in my heart.

I'll miss you and I love you forever.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I wonder if you remember the people, including mom would call our names in the order of our births; Tessie, Ed and Collie. Now that you have ascended to heaven I tried calling our names without but it doesn't sound right. You are my brother and always will be. I said goodbye but I know it's not forever because I will see you again at the crossroads of heaven.

Eddie,

I will miss your friendship until God chooses to also bring me home.

In the meantime, I can only reflect upon such things as your great sense of humor and your indomitable spirit. It makes me smile to do so.

I will always remember the lunches, bowling, church, weightlifting and trips to Denver, Estes Park and Washington, D.C. It was during those outings that I got to know your sense of humor, your intellect, and your perseverance.

Not only did you live-out a tremendous example of perseverance for my growing children, Eddie, but you also issued me an undeniable, unshakable challenge to meet life's adversity head-on, with tenacity, and yet, strive to keep a humble spirit.

You and I would often pray for each other at the close of each outing. My burden is that I was not there for you at the end of this last battle. Nor did I get to pray with you at its close. I wish that you could know that I was praying for you then and I continue to pray for Gloria, Edwin, and the rest of your beloved family.

I confess that I do not understand life's circumstances nor its timing, Eddie. Nor do I comprehend God's sovereignty over each. I do know that God most certainly worked in our lives to bring us together in friendship, and made us each the better for it.

Your friendship and example have had a huge impact upon Nancy, Jeremy and Stacie, and me. You know that you are a member of my family's heritage and memory. We keep pictures of you not only in our family albums but even more so in our hearts.

Eddie, I know that your body no longer limits what you are able to do. I know that your entire body and spirit are free from the trevails of this life. May God through His Son be your all now, and may He bless you with the fullness of His riches and glory.

Until then, my good friend....

Teach me not to mourn as those who have no hope. Wipe away the tears from my eyes that I may be able to see through the mist, beyond death & grave, to the ressurrection and life assured by the glorious victory of our Savior Jesus Christ over death & grave. May the passing of my friend Eddie remind me that I, too, am but a pilgrim & stranger on earth. Grant me the grace to love less & less the things that are material & temporal and love more and more the things that are spritual and eternal. R.I.P my friend until we meet again. Much love Karl N.
