Edgar Burdette Obituary
Mr. Burdette was born April 4, 1932 in Purdum, MD and lived his life in the Boyds/Clarksburg, MD area until relocating to Dothan in 2010. He was the son of the late E. Calvin and Mildred King Burdette. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary L. Burdette.
In 1984, Mr. Burdette retired from the Montgomery County Police Department in Maryland where he served for 26 years. He enjoyed raising cattle on the family farm, camping trips with friends, and was a passionate fan of the Washington Redskins. He was a member of the Clarksburg United Methodist Church, Clarksburg, MD.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph Allan Burdette, Boyds, MD, two daughters, Ruth Ann Burdette, Little Hocking, Ohio and Alana (David) Thomas, Gordon, AL; grandchildren, Mickey Allan Burdette, Eli David Thomas and Caroline Lorraine Thomas; sister, Shirley B. Kling, nephew, Dr. Ronald (Linda) Kling, DVM and niece, Laurie Bucher. He was preceded in death by grandchildren, Andrea Christine Burdette and Calvin Hunter Thomas; daughter-in-law Pamela Burdette.
Funeral services will be 11am, Friday, April 4, 2014 at Grace Park United Methodist Church in Ashford, AL with Bro. Griff Pemberton officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 1700 Barrington Road, Dothan, AL with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Clarksburg United Methodist Church, 23425 Spire Street, Clarksburg, MD 20871 or to Grace Park United Methodist Church, 105 Elmer Road, Ashford, AL 36312.

Very sorry to hear that Allan passed. He was a great person and police officer. The last time I remember seeing him was when stopped me in Woodfield for speeding. He didn't give me a ticket. I never forgot that.

Sorry to hear AIIen passed away. last time I saw him was at Brudette reunion MAny years removed.I lost my wife Jean last oct she was 82 and we were mard 63 yrs.My thoughts and prayers are with you and rest of the Burdette family

Mary and Family: It was with great sadness that I learned of Alan's passing. I knew Alan as a fellow Angus producer and also he was my employee when he drove a school bus for MCPS. My life was blessed because he was a part of it. May the memories of happy days past help to give you comfort. When we lose someone we love it makes a hole in our hearts. The hole will never heal, but it will mend. My deepest sympathy to you. Alan will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
