Edith Swearengin Obituary

Funeral services for Edith Allen Swearengin, of DeRidder, La., will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2009, in New Life Baptist Church in DeRidder with Rev. Lynn Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Mrs. Swearengin passed away Saturday, October 17, 2009, in Christus St. Patricks Hospital in Lake Charles, La.

Visitation was held from 5 p.m. Until 9 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2009, and will continue from 9 a.m. until 12 noon, Tuesday, October 20. 2009 in Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

Edith was a native and lifelong resident of DeRidder. She was a charter member and still active member of BARC. She was honored in 1999 as DeRidder's Mardi Gras Queen. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in DeRidder and a new member of New Life Baptist Church in DeRidder. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Henry Carter for his longtime care, and DeRidder Branch of DeQuincy Home Health.

Edith is survived by two sons, Sammie "Bubba" Swearengin, of DeRidder, and Johnny M. Swearengin and wife Dana of Richmond, TX; three daughters, Carolyn Goodeaux and husband Sammy, Linda Pardon and husband Don, and Gay Pellerin and husband Kirk, all of DeRidder; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Marvin Howard Swearengin, father, Forest Allen, mother, Mamie Carter Allen Cole, step-father, Albert Cole, and brother Norman "Frosty" Allen.
