Anne Arledge Obituary

Anne Loretta Arledge, 98, of Chilton, passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2009. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at First Baptist Church Chilton with the Rev. Mark Newton officiating. Burial will follow in the Chilton Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16, at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin. Loretta was born in Franklin, Texas on April 24, 1911, to the late Elizabeth Dunford and Alexander King. For 67 years Loretta had the oldest operating beauty shop in the state of Texas. Continuing to maintain her beauty operator's license for three more years after she styled a client's hair, Loretta last renewed it in April of 2009. Preparing delicious meals came naturally for her and greatly pleased the 'connoisseurs' she served. She was a member of FBC Chilton until the time of her death. Also preceding Loretta in death were her husband, Jim Brown "Brownie" Arledge; daughter, Barbara Peevey; brothers, Wyatt, Lorenzo and Modwell King; sisters, Magdaline Burch, Una Smith, Estelle Mahan, and Ellen Griffin; and great-grandson, Cody Payne. Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, James Guynes and wife, Joyce; granddaughters, Reni' Westbrook, Lisa O'Brien, and Lori Guynes; grandson, Blake Peevey; and great-grandchildren, Jason and Dustin Payne, Kaitlin and Brenden O'Brien; Travis and Zachary Peevey.
