Edna Micci Obituary

Edna Jean Micci, a lifetime resident of Colorado Springs, was called to the Lord on Tuesday, February 2, 2010. She was born to James and Sula Johnson on December 25, 1927. She was a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a hard worker throughout her life. During her high school years, she found a job so she could buy a dining set for her parents. After 35 years of service, Edna retired from McGraw-Hill. She was a caring woman with a heartfelt love and concern for her family. Family was always part of her life as she enjoyed sewing and cooking for them. Holidays and various family gatherings were memorable times for her. Christmas Day (also her birthday) was her favorite. Edna, a proud grandmother, looked forward to seeing the smiles of joy on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's faces as she shared the spirit of Christmas. Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Matthew Paul Micci and by all her siblings. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Dave (Sandy) Micci; Cindy (Micci) and Colin Bills; Ed (Beth) Micci; Matthew (Marsha) Micci; and Sharon (Micci) and Patrick Marron. Her 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren will miss her. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado. A Rosary will follow at 6:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2021 W. Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 1000 S. 26th St, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

David, Cindy, Eddie, Mattie and Sharon,

Shirley, Marshall II and I have been thinking of you today as you laid our dear cousin Edna to rest. Our hearts and prayers are with you.

Your folks were loved dearly by all in our family; and the comfort of their hospitality and warmth were very special to us.

Edna passed on the 22nd anniversary of her Uncle Marsh's death. We know that he and other well loved family members were waiting to welcome her to heaven with opened arms.

I have some memory of the day Matt and Edna got married; she wore a navy blue suit, with pretty trimmings, as she and Matt went down the front steps of the church following the wedding reception. The last time I visited with her, we had homemade Aujus, dipped fresh bread into it, and looked at their wedding pictures. And there I was, along with many other loved ones. What a wonderful family!

We send our love to all of you.

Ed,
I have forwarded this to Glen. So very sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was such a good friend to my mom. I'll bet they are "catching up" right now.
