Edna Teaff Obituary

Edna Teaff, 97, life long resident of Merkel, Texas died Tuesday, July 21, 2009 in a Colorado Springs, CO hospital Services were held Saturday, July 25th at Merkel First Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. A special service will be held for her at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, August 9, 2009 at South East Baptist Church with Reverands Kenneth R. Harvell and Bond Brown officiating. Edna was born January 20, 1912 in Greenville to Joseph and Mary Belle (Dinwiddie) Jowers. She married Nim Teaff in January 21, 1933 in Stamford. He preceded her in death January 5, 1976. Edna graduated from Abilene High School and attended College in El Paso majoring in business. She was a member of Merkel First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 65 years, was chairperson of the church hostess committee and was also involved in mission work, Bible Study and WMU. Edna was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, reading and gardening. She was a leader in her home, church and community. Since 2004, Edna lived in Colorado Springs with her daughter, Gloria Harvell and husband Kenneth Harvell. She was active in South East Baptist Church and loved to talk about the Bible. Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Harvell and husband Kenneth of Colorado Springs, CO; her son-in-law, Cecil Todd of Killeen; 4 grandchildren, Tasha Sheehan, Cherie Cobb, Ron Harvell and Ken Harvell; 7 great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Amanda, Josh, Stephanie, Steven, Talon and Kadyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband and daughter, Kay. Memorial donations may be made to Merkel Cemetery Association, 201 Edwards, Merkel, TX 79536 or to South East Baptist Church, 4393 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80919.
