Edward Cleveland Obituary

Edward Cleveland died peacefully on April 10, 2017. His wife of 73 years, Shirley, was by his side.

Ed received his Ph.D. in English literature from Johns Hopkins University and his Ll. B. from the University of Wisconsin Law School. As a B-26 pilot during World War II he was credited with 63 bombing missions in Europe. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and other medals and citations. After eight years as an English instructor at University of Wisconsin he joined the law firm of Whyte, Hirschboeck, Minahan, Harding & Harland in Milwaukee. He co-organized Citizens Against McCarthy (Joe) in Madison, Wisconsin. In 1969 the family relocated to Colorado Springs where he practiced law with Geddes, Weir, Sparks & O'Brien and subsequently opened his own firm with various partners. Ed was an active member of Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and served on numerous civic boards and associations. He retired from legal practice in 2005.

Ed and Shirley were married in 1943. They have four children: Michael, Anne, John, and Geoffrey; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be at Chapel of Our Saviour columbarium. A private family service will be held.

I was always so proud to have him as my father. He was a great example of integrity, honor and zest for life. I miss him so much already.
