Edward F. Elton of
Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on October 4, 2025. He passed 2 months prior to what would have been his 90th birthday.
Born on December 3, 1939 in
Teaneck, New Jersey, to the late Alexandria and John Elton. Edward touched the lives of many with his spirituality and love for all living things. He possessed a brilliant mind and empathetic heart.
Edward graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy from Lawrence University. He was a member of the Iota Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity at Stevens Institute, Class of 1957.
During his life, Edward was a full-time professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Maine, held positions in corporations focused in the paper industry, taught part-time in the Mechanical Engineering department at Sacramento State University and was the owner and CEO of the Research Equipment Company of Colorado. Edward holds five U.S. patents and several foreign patents. Most notably the Black Liquor Oxidation patent, a process for bleaching pulp.
Edward was very active in the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC where he taught several courses, was a keynote speaker at regional conclaves and held the position of Grand Counselor for the Rocky Mountain Region for several years. He lived his life with a firm commitment to the sanctity of all life and a belief in the unity of all souls.
Edward is survived by his wife, Jeanette Elton of 38 years, his children Michael Elton and wife Deborah, Steven Elton and wife Lisa, Derna Barski and husband Steve, Cynthia Fink and husband Jeff, Jennifer Owens and husband Bryan; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His legacy will live on through them and all will forever cherish his memory.
Edward lived his life with honor and treated everyone with dignity. He will be remembered for his wit and the wisdom he shared with those around him.
A gathering to honor and celebrate Edward will be held at the convenience of his family.
