Eddie, I never thought I'd have to live my life without you and it's been an excruciating year. You have been the light of my life since the day you were born. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and all the wonderful memories I have of you growing up and becoming the amazing man you were. Every second of every day I miss your smile, your laughter, your hugs, your incredibly loving, goofy, and caring personality. You always saw the best in people and were such a loyal friend. You were so incredibly talented and I miss watching and hearing you improvise jazz on the piano. Whenever I needed you, you were there without hesitation. I learned so much from you, like accept people for who they are and always have their back, be calm, do more and say less, always see the good in people, and most of all have fun and laugh a lot. You were an exceptional human and I am so grateful I got to be your mom. One day after you passed, I asked you if you could see the beautiful sunset that I was watching and I heard you say very clearly, "I can't see the beauty because I have become the beauty." I believe you have made the beauty more beautiful because of who you were. Everyday of my life, I will look for you in all the wonder of nature. Until we can hug again, I will miss you more than I can say. I love you with all of my heart and soul, Ma.
Edward is survived by his Mom, Debbie Yarra, his Father, Edwin Heller, his Uncle/Dad, Robert Heller, his Love, Brittaney Grace, his Aunts, Susan Wadsworth and Judy Heller, his other aunts and uncles, his nieces and nephews and countless wonderful close friends and coworkers who all miss him terribly. He is preceded in death by his mom's partner Jaye Marden, his Aunt Melanie Wadsworth, his grandparents, Doris Wadsworth, and Charles and Myra Heller.
Edward's love for piano started while attending and playing for Pike Peak Metropolitan Community Church praise band while in high school and taking lessons with Grammy Nominee Jazz Pianist, Steve Barta. He graduated from the PPSC music program and earned a BA in Philosophy from UCCS. After graduating in 2017 he began teaching at Pikes Peak State College as an Adjunct Professor in Jazz Piano, which he absolutely adored doing. He was well loved by his students and colleagues. He played jazz piano with the Pikes Peak State College Music Department in a band called Equinox. He, also, was the principal pianist/co-leader for the Crossroads Praise Band at First United Methodist Church. In addition he worked for Oak Street Health as a Community Relationship Manager. He was well loved by all his colleagues and coworkers. If you would like to do something for the family, please call Pikes Peak State College Foundation and tell them you want to donate to the "Jazz Piano Scholarship, in honor of Ed Heller".
