Edward Roeckel Obituary

Roeckel

Edward J

Roeckel

January 15, 2022

Ed died peacefully in Colorado Springs on January 15, 2022 at the age of 85 after living a full and wonderful life. He is survived by his loving wife, Anita (nèe Schneider), of 59 years, and his four children, Davyne (John), Dyan (Daniel), Mark (Barbara), and Dynese (Michael), and thirteen grandchildren.

After becoming disabled while serving in the US Army during the Korean War, Ed became a communications officer, and then programmer for the US government. He and his family traveled the world, living in Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, and the Middle East. Ed was always the center of the party and made everyone feel welcome and accepted. Ed and Anita were the power couple that could solve any problem or crisis.

Following his retirement, Ed was a private contractor at CDSI, GTE, Mantech and General Dynamics. For 17 years, up at 3am, his favorite exercise was as a "paper boy" for the Washington Post, walking his extensive 5-mile route – the last five years with Anita at his side.

Ed will be remembered for his love of family, his boisterous laugh, his unending sense of humor, his zest for life and his unflagging optimism. Private family services were held January 25, 2022.

My dad always spoke highly of Ed and Anita... He was a character I remember his BMW motorcycle when they lived in Annandale.
