Eldon Quick Obituary

Eldon Darrell Quick was born on April 3, 1936, to John and Margie Quick at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. He, along with his brothers Jim (deceased) and Wayne Quick, grew up on a ranch outside of Lake George, CO. On June 7, 1958, Eldon married Marcille Jones and enjoyed almost 58 years together where they had four children, Julie Diane (deceased), John Eugene (deceased), Charles Eldon, and Michelle Rene (Quick) Fletcher. Eldon was the consummate grandfather to dozens of children through the years, including his own: Joshua, Anthony, Autumn, and Daniel Quick; and Brandon, Ashley (Ballard), Laura (Zyonse), and Melissa Fletcher. Eldon was also the proud great grandpa of Brooke Marci Fletcher.

Serving his country for three years in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962, Eldon spent time at Fort Benning, GA, and in South Korea. Following his military service, Eldon spent the majority of his working life as a residential framing contractor and carpenter, retiring in 2001.

Eldon's faith was an integral part of his life, serving as a Deacon at the Pikes Peak Avenue church of Christ for nearly forty years. He lived out his faith through service to others and was an example of charity. Opening their home to dozens of families that needed short or long-term housing; creating a home-away-from-home environment for young military families, Eldon and Marcille exemplified the call to help others.

Hunting, fishing, shooting, and 4-wheeling were Eldon's favorite past-times. Eldon understood and appreciated nature, sharing with his children and grandchildren his experience, passion, and love for the outdoors. He was a great story teller, capturing the imagination of his listeners with stories of life ranching in the mountains.

Eldon Quick passed away on March 8, 2016. His love for family and love of life will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. A celebration of Eldon's life will be held on Saturday March 12, 2016, at 11:00AM at the Pikes Peak Church of Christ, 1402 West Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, CO.

Eldon's sense of humor and smile. Always remember when he and Charlie put in a front bedroom window for us which is still there today. Always willing to help others and caring.

I was sad to hear of Eldon's passing today. Eldon was so instrumental in my learning the framing aspect of building a home. What a great teacher with lots of patience as he taught me how to frame. My the Lord comfort you all at this time.

Marcille, Charlie, and family. I am truly sad to hear of Eldon's passing. It was my privilege and pleasure to serve with him as a deacon in the 1990's. Our faith and trust in the Lord is what gets us thru these tough times. Your brother in Christ. Don Simmons
