Eleanor Leighton Obituary

Ellie Leighton, 96, of Scottsdale, Arizona, died peacefully on January 19, 2015, in Scottsdale.

Eleanor Louise Power was born to Edward M. and Caroline Lappe Power in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 27, 1918. She was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from the Ellis School and Miss Conley's Business School in Pittsburgh.

In 1939 she married Winthrop N. Davis from Scranton, Pennsylvania. He died in August, 1964. In 1997 Ellie married George Leighton, and the couple resided in Scottsdale, Arizona. George died in August, 2005.

Ellie was a very creative person and loved music. Although not formally trained, she had composed many musical compositions which continue to be used in television shows and other media. She was a Real Estate agent, a fashion designer, and a creative chef.

She is survived by her children, W. Jeremy (Jacqueline) Davis of Grand Forks, ND, Edward P. (Rennie Robbins) Davis of Parkville, MO, Clark Davis of Colorado Springs, CO, and Carol (David Nunley) Davis of San Diego, CA, three grandchildren, and twin great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and sisters.

Funeral service and burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 29 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Arrangements are by Messinger Mortuary, Scottsdale.

The family has requested that memorials may be directed to the Ellis School Scholarship Fund, 6425 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
