Eleanor Stapleton Obituary

Eleanor G. Stapleton Oct. 4, 1911 - Sept. 24, 2007 Resident of Clayton Caring friend, loving mother and grandmother, Eleanor died quietly in her Clayton home the evening of September 24th. She shared her life with her late husband, Ralph for sixty-one years. The youngest of four children, Eleanor was born in Seattle, Washington. She attended school, married and raised her family in Seattle. During the years of World War II, she helped establish cooperative preschools in Seattle for the children of mothers working in the shipyards and aircraft factories of the city. Later, she operated her own preschool. Upon her husband's retirement, Eleanor moved to Martinez, California, to be near her son's family. She resided in her Martinez home for twenty-nine years. Eleanor loved animals, tame or wild. Dogs were her special joy, and they loved her too. She also enjoyed country dancing and playing bridge. She is missed by her son, Donald and his spouse, Elisabeth; grandson, Chris and his spouse, Lorianne; granddaughter, Andrea and her husband, Karl; great-granddaughters, Savina, Tatianna and Gracyn; and great-grandsons, Connor, Sean and Brennen. Services will be conducted at St. John's Parish Church, Episcopal, on October 4th at 3 p.m. in Clayton. We give thanks for her life.
