Elizabeth Berthiaume Obituary

Elizabeth Marguerite Berthiaume, 91, went home to her Lord on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. She was born July 20, 1923 in Worcester, Massachusetts to James and Mary Barry. She attended Sacred Heart Academy and graduated in 1941. She married her husband, Gerard "Gig" Berthiaume, in 1943. They were married for 56 years, until his passing in 1999.

Betty loved to read, but only the "clean" books. She enjoyed cooking, especially for the family. She loved music and loved to laugh. It was part of Betty's core to help a friend, or even a stranger, in need. She had a quick wit and a comeback for everything. She truly enjoyed the 12 years she spent at The Village at Skyline Retirement Center, where she received loving and compassionate care and thought of them as family.

Betty is survived by her two sons and their wives, Walter "Butch" and Kathy Berthiaume of Colorado Springs, and Paul and Linda Berthiaume of Conroe, Texas; her daughter and her husband, Joan and Ron Reiman of Waverly, Ohio; her brother, Eddie Barry of Worcester, Massachusetts; her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard; her parents, James and Mary Barry; a brother, Jimmy Barry and sister, Rosemary Gorr.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014, at 10:00am at St. Mary's Cathedral, 22 W. Kiowa Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903, with the inurnment following in the St. Mary's Columbarium.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
