Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Coy

Elizabeth Coy Obituary

Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Coy of Louisville passed away Aug. 31, after a long bout with multiple sclerosis (MS). Born June 25, 1959, in Fairfield, California, Liz lived in California cities such as Vallejo, Edwards AFB (near Lancaster) and Camarillo; Anchorage, Alaska; and Colorado Springs. Liz graduated from Doherty High School in 1977 and attended college for two years, majoring in computer science. She was married Sept. 27, 1980, in Colorado Springs to Timothy Coy. She held several management positions at The Denver and Alco, and became a software engineer for Neodata Services and Electronic Data Systems in Louisville. Liz was diagnosed with MS in 1999 and took a disability retirement from EDS two years later. Liz became active in the Rocky Mountain Region Cadillac & LaSalle Club and the national CLC, serving on the board of directors and as advertising manager for CLC publications. Besides Cadillacs, Liz enjoyed sewing, knitting, shopping, Southwest artifacts and driving those who could no longer drive to appointments. Despite becoming wheel chair-bound due to the MS, Liz always kept her sense of humor and rarely complained. Liz is survived by her husband; her parents, Donald and Isabel Martin of Colorado Springs; three brothers, Robert Martin of Peyton, James Martin of Beulah, and Edward Martin of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by two sons, Joseph Coy of Lafayette, and Christopher Coy of Louisville; one grandson, Gabriel Coy of Broomfield, several uncles and aunts, a niece and nephew. A celebration of Liz's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, at Saint Ambrose Episcopal Church, 7520 S. Boulder Road, Boulder, The Rev. John H. Elledge Jr., officiating. Arrangements made by Darrell Howe Mortuary of Lafayette. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Liz's memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, (www.nationalmssociety.org), so her wishes for a cure can be found.

My best friend will truly be missed. You are one of many who had to leave us too soon. Keep an eye out there for my Tall, Beautiful Black single male. Your birthday cards were always the bomb (okay some help from Tim too).

Tim, Joey and Chris, you know I'll always be around. There are words that cannot express everything we're going through.

"When I was growing up, my friend Liz Martin and I..." is how many of the stories I've recounted to my children begin. I have so many wonderful memories of Liz and her family. Although I miss Liz's presence, her energy lives in my heart when I remember our great adventures. God bless you, my friend.

Liz has left a legacy for all of us. I will miss you, your humor, your kindness and caring but most of all I will miss the honest and open way you dealt with life. I believe anyone that ever met Liz learned something from that meeting no matter how brief. God sends us people into our lives for a special reason that seems to be revealed when you least expect it. May Liz rest in the arms of God and look after the rest of us.
God bless the entire Coy family, may your hearts be healed.
Love,
Kathy McAfee

Liz, you will truly be missed by me and countless others. You have left behind an incredible legacy and touched so many with your kindness and generosity. But it personally fills my heart with joy to think of all the fun times we've shared over these many, many years and brings a smile to my face and my heart. My prayers are with you and your family.
