Elizabeth Haas Obituary

Elizabeth Teresa Haas, 91, died at home Sunday, June 15th. Elizabeth was born February 12, 1917, one of 13 siblings. Her mother died when she was 11; she was raised by her beloved sister and husband. She graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High in 1936 and worked as a secretary for Bethlehem Steel. She married her partner of 63 years, Norman Haas, on November 29, 1943, in Bethlehem, PA. They had 4 daughters. Norman died on July 1, 2006, and Elizabeth mourned him for the past 2 years while continuing their example of living and enjoying life. Elizabeth is survived by 2 daughters, Mary Ann Wilkes of Irvine, CA, and Barbara Haas of Chipita Park, CO; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; 2 daughters, Margaret Haas-Hood and Elizabeth (Beth) Haas; and her 12 siblings. Elizabeth was a strong, caring, thoughtful woman with a sincere heart, many good stories and a love of baking. She played bridge 3 times a week and was the president of her condo HOA. She attended St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church where she practiced her faith and prayer life from which she gained much strength and comfort. Elizabeth will have a memorial service in Bethlehem, PA. She will be interred with her husband at Ft. Morgan Veterans Cemetery. There will be a memorial mass for her at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church at 7:00 am on June 27th.
