Elizabeth Martina Henrica Maria (Eussen) Hamlet passed away from complications relating to cancer peacefully in her home in Colorado Springs, CO on April 15, 2022.
Elizabeth was born September 23, 1937 to John H. Eussen & Christina Maria Eussen-de Bruyn in Geleen, the Netherlands. In February of 1949 her family emigrated to the United States. Elizabeth was the eldest of 9 siblings, and is survived by Matthew, Martin, Emmanuel, Mary, Remy and Christine. Elizabeth was proceeded in death by her siblings Josephine who passed on (01/17/1984 in Tumwater, WA), John passing on (03/10/2009 in Portland, OR), Joseph passed on (01/05/2018, in Anchorage, AK).
Elizabeth attended Mt Carmel academy in Wichita, KS then matriculated to Marymount College in Salina, KS where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked for General Dynamics in Wichita, KS and Roswell, NM where she was assigned to missile silos, and met her husband Walter Eugene ("Gene") who proceeded her in death Oct 31, 2008. Elizabeth & Gene were Married at Our Lady of the Woods, Roman Catholic Church, Woodland Park, CO (October 12, 1963). ,
Mrs. Hamlet is survived by her three sons Michael Eugene David Hamlet, Mark Andrew Hamlet, and Walter "Shawn" Hamlet and grandchildren Alyssa, Amanda and Alexander. Michael's wife Sandra passed on January 13, 2022 after being married 34 of years
In Colorado Springs, Elizabeth worked at the former Eisenhower Hospital, eventually retiring from Memorial Hospital as a nurse in the year 2000. Elizabeth loved to travel, work in her gardens, bake, crocheting hats and scarves for the homeless shelters, the Marion House for various local non-profits, and hospitals, do puzzles of all kinds, and read mystery novels. Elizabeth was an animal lover, her pets were always pampered, and the neighborhood birds and squirrels regardless of time of year left the yard and feeders with full stomachs. She was heavily involved at with the church, it's worship services, and fellowship activities, having served on a number of committees and boards throughout the years. Elizabeth will be known for her everlasting love of Christ, and her devotion to walking in the steps of the Lord. May that be her legacy and gift to her surviving family, her friends, and to all who knew this beautiful woman.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the Penrose Cancer Foundation, or EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) so that both of these organizations can continue their wonderful work and Message of Christ.

Viewing of the body will be held on Monday May 16th, 2022 at Swan Law Funeral Home at 6p.m. a Rosary to Follow.
The Final Viewing 9:30a.m. and Funeral will be held on Tuesday Many 17th, 2022 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church starting at 11:00a.m. With a luncheon following.
Final Resting place will be later that afternoon at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
