Elizabeth Hicks Obituary

Elizabeth A. Hicks was born in Savannah, GA. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and traveled to various cities to include D.C., Wilmington, Houston and San Antonio, and eventually came to Colorado Springs in 1976 with her family, where she lived the rest of her life.

She is survived by her sisters Evelyn Mack and Anna Mary Pipes, and sister-in-law, Linda Graves. She is preceded by her Father, Mother and Brother.

She is also survived by her children, Marion Green, Constance Green, Bobby Green, Avon Hicks and Kelley Hicks. Her grandchildren, Janne Hand, Shavoun Hand, Kienan Hicks, Sydney Hicks, Renae Hicks, Marion Hicks, Corrie Green, several other relatives and a host of dear friends.

Early on, Elizabeth worked as a nurse and homemaker while also supporting her late husband's U.S. Air Force Career at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, Texas and Penrose St. Francis in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was an active member of St. John's Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, where she sang as a Soprano in the church choir and served as the Benevolence chair. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, playing bingo and playing card games.

Elizabeth was known as a hard worker, a strong woman, good listener, an encourager and someone who would share a good laugh with you - and a person you could call when you needed to talk or a shoulder to cry on. To some she was known as a friend, confidant, "jazzy auntie", daughter or sister - but most of all she was known as a mother.

Her work and efforts touched the lives of many people in her family, church, and the communities in which she resided. Elizabeth Hicks will be missed dearly and not a day will go by without her being in our memories and hearts.

A visitation is scheduled for Monday, February 1, 2016 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Angelus Chapel Funeral Directors, 1104 S. Circle Drive; Colorado Springs.

A service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. John's Baptist Church, 902 S. Prospect St.
