Betty (Elizabeth) Brown Hoffman died July 11, 2022, in Colorado Springs. She was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio to Edmund and Edna (Kentner) Brown on June 6, 1922. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Wapakoneta in 1940 and Mount St. Joseph on the Ohio College in 1944. She moved to Colorado after graduation with two college roommates and lived in Denver before moving to Colorado Springs. Betty worked as an accountant for Golden Cycle Corporation. She met Fred A. Hoffman and they were married in June, 1947 In Colorado Springs.They moved to Denver with Fred's career with Standard Oil. Both of their children, Fred A. Hoffman II and Susan were born in Denver. Fred was transferred to Chicago but they returned to Colorado Springs in the late 1950s.
Betty was president of Soroptimist, and a charter member of the Pioneer Museum docents. She was a volunteer librarian at Beth El School of Nursing and Holy Trinity Catholic Schlol. She was a founding partner in Hoffman Distributing.
After Fred's retirement, he and Betty traveled to over 25 countries and six continents. Betty enjoyed golf, bridge, reading, and her daily walks.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, and son Fred II, her parents, sisters Julia and Lucy, brother Bill and nephew Chris Seitz. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Mike Gilliland, her grandson and his wife Ryan and Cassandra Gilliland and their daughter Vivian Grace Gilliland, two nephews Peter and Steve Seitz, niece Emily Lengyl all of Santa Fe, New Mexico, a niece Ann Seitz of Maine, and their families. A private mass will be said in her memory.
