Elizabeth Hoskins Obituary

Elizabeth Hoskins passed away Sunday, January 8, at the age of 94. She was born Elizabeth Margaret Parker in Lima, Ohio, August 7, 1917. While employed as a staff pianist at a Lima radio station, she met and married James H. Hoskins in 1940. He also worked at the radio station as a radio newscaster and musician. They moved to Toledo, Ohio, where son James R. Hoskins was born in 1943. In 1950 they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where daughter Marcia was born in 1953. Elizabeth was a former member of Trinity Methodist Church. She was a gifted musician who played piano, organ, and marimba. When she and her husband retired to Florida in 1976, they started a 5-piece band that performed for local dances and area nursing homes. Elizabeth was widowed in 1985 and eventually returned to Colorado Springs. She is survived by her son and daughter, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held January 16, at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 701 N 20th St, Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to SolAmor Hospice, 655 Southpointe Court, Suite 201, Colorado Springs, CO 80906 or Broadmoor Court staff, 2045 Roanoke St., Colorado Springs, CO. Please mark "for staff" on the check.
