Elizabeth Koditek Obituary

Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Koditek, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully on August 16, 2016. She was born in Cleveland, OH, December 29th, 1950, the oldest of 3 children born to the late Donald and Eleanor Barrett.

Raised in La Mirada, CA, she obtained her dental hygiene license in 1973 after studies at Cerritos College. On June 23rd, 1974, she married Edward Koditek, and they moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to start their careers.

She moved to Germany in 1980 after Ed joined the military. She spent the next 26 years traveling the world; living in Washington, Texas, New York, Alaska, and Colorado, with countless other states and countries visited along the way.

Liz was a gifted wife, mother and grandmother. She was skier, marathoner, road bike cyclist, fly fisher, and triathlete. She liked to garden, do needlepoint, and she had a passion for cooking. She did all of this while raising two boys and maintaining her licensure as a dental hygienist, retiring from practice in 2013.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Edward; children, David and Michael (Kim); grandchildren, Claudia and Benjamin; siblings, Claire Weesner (Forrest) and Joe Barrett (Atsuko); as well as a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.

Burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO, Monday, August 22nd, at 2:15pm. A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church of Colorado Springs (1515 N. Cascade Ave) on Saturday, September 10th, at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
