Elizabeth Luken Obituary

Elizabeth (Libby) Farr Luken, 60, of Colorado Springs, passed away at University of Colorado Hospital in Denver on February 14, 2017 following a brief illness. Libby was born on October 4, 1956 in New Haven Connecticut but spent most of her formative years in Washington, D.C. and Princeton, New Jersey. She attended Princeton Day School ('74) and The Colorado College ('78) where she met and married Curt Christofferson. Prior to an amicable divorce they had two children, Colin and Julia. Libby's ease and way with people and sharp, organized mind made her well suited to her career as a property and facilities manager, most recently as Facilities Manager at Intelligent Software Solutions. Libby was a volunteer for many years for Silver Key in Colorado Springs and her Meals on Wheels clients always looked forward to her visits as much for emotional sustenance as for the food that she delivered.

She was active with her many friends, enjoying weekend bike rides, long walks with her beloved dogs and jazzercise. Libby would never turn down a beach vacation or family time in the Wet Mountains valley haven of Beulah. Always the family optimist, even on cloudy days she would be the first to say "it's brightening up".

Libby is survived by her children and their spouses, Colin and Alison Christofferson and Julia and Nick Bear; her grandchildren Lily Christofferson, April Christofferson, Tenley Bear and Remy Bear; her sisters Judith Farr and Catherine Langer and husband Steven, her brother Stephen Farr and his wife Kate Patton and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, step-sisters and step-brother and others she considered her "bonus family".

She is predeceased by her parents Walter Greene and Louise Evans Farr.

A memorial service will be held on March 24th, 2017 at 2:00pm at Shove Chapel on the Colorado College Campus.

Dear, dear Libby...you were Matthew's bonus mom for sure. My heart goes out to Colin and Julia. Matthew and I were so lucky to have you in our lives. He was extra lucky to spend a special summer vacation at the Beulah family home with you. See you on the other side my friend.

Libby came into my life briefly when we met on our Italy tour, and her memory will always be cherished. I love this smiling picture of her, because it says so much about who she was. A lover of life, of her family, of her children, of her friends and of adventures.

Libby will continue to live through all of us when we choose to be a little kinder, a little sillier, and when we accept and love those around us unconditionally.

Such a shocking loss. I knew Libby professionally for many years and always admired her intelligence and ethics - but even more so, her warmth and honesty and "fun-ness" on a personal level. Such a bright light. Deepest sympathies to her family.

Libby's positive attitude is an inspiration to me everyday. Her smile was infectious. She will always be a Light to those who had the opportunity to know her. Why she was taken can never be answered, but the memories of her live on in my mind forever.
