Elizabeth Miller Obituary

April 4, 1928 - Feb. 19, 2009
Elizabeth "Bettes" Miller passed away on Thursday, February 19th after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Bettes was born April 4, 1928 to John and Zelma Manfuso in Washington, DC. A bit of a maverick, Bettes left the big city life and her career at IBM after marrying the love of her life Albert "Ab" Miller in 1954. Adapting to the plains of North Dakota on a large farm took a bit of getting used to, but she was up to the adventure. After 5 children and a very active presence in North Dakota state politics, Bettes and Ab moved the family to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Never one to sit idle, Bettes returned to work for IBM where she eventually retired as a Systems Engineer after 27 years. Her high energy level allowed Bettes to meet the challenges head on of raising a large family and pursuing a successful professional career. Bettes was a very kind, loving and compassionate person always reaching out to others who needed a helping hand. This passion of directly helping others manifested itself in many ways. As an example, it was not uncommon for Bettes to return home from Sunday mass with someone less fortunate to spend the day with her family. Bettes is survived by her husband Albert Miller, children: Hume (Paula) Miller, Tony Miller, Louis (Patti) Miller and Davis (Mary) Miller and 5 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Garnett Miller, and her brother Tommy Manfuso. A special thank you to the amazing care givers at Autumn Years Memory Care center and Legacy Hospice. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, February 26 at 10:30am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Boise, under the direction of Bell Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.BellFuneral.com Memorial Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association Desert South West Chapter, Phoenix Arizona.
