Elizabeth, age 96, passed away on November 14, 2023. She was born in Luzern and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, where she attended high school and college. She moved to
Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1969 and remained a resident until her passing. For many years Elizabeth worked as a bookkeeper for several real estate development firms in Colorado Springs.
Elizabeth Josephine was born on June 17, 1927, to Jakob "Fritz" Friedrich and Josefina (Odermatt) Liener in Luzern, Switzerland. On November 17, 1955, she married Hans Alfred Ras in
San Mateo, California.
Elizabeth loved gardening and belonged to the Manitou Springs Garden Club for countless years. She enjoyed mushroom foraging and was a member of the Pikes Peak Mycological Society. Elizabeth loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest, travelling whenever she had the opportunity throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. For many years she enjoyed being a member of the Les Chapaugh Rouge chapter of the Colorado Springs Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her children: Denise P. Ras-Arvidson (Tim Arvidson) and Rober J. Ras; her sister, Dora Maria Toller-Liener; her grandchildren: Jacqueline "Elise" Ras (John Thilenius), Casey Miles Ras (Dazzelle Zamora-Ras), Nicholas Kenneth Arvidson (Michaela Whispell Arvidson), George Wesley Arvidson (Gary); and her great-grandchild, Jesse Austin Arvidson. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hans A. Ras; and her brother, Kurt Friedrich Liener.
A memorial service and celebration of life will take place at a future date. We will provide notifications well in advance for family and friends to attend. Elizabeth (Liz's) ashes will be spread at the places she loved and treasured most: Wilkerson Pass (Colorado), Lake Zurich (Switzerland), and of course her garden!
Our family would like to extend our deepest thanks to the kind care and love Liz received at Brookdale/Skyline. Most importantly, thank you to all her friends and neighbors in Colorado Springs and Villa de Mesa! The love, care and attention that everyone provided for Liz in her final days was unbelievable! We are blessed as a family to have such wonderful people in our life. We feel Liz's presence, and we know God has received a "New Angel"! Her infectious, warm and kind smile is shining down upon us! We love you and miss you but know you are in God's loving care!
