Elizabeth Varney Obituary

Elizabeth Merlino Varney, 91, passed away November 22, 2011 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Canon City, Colorado on March 1, 1920 to the late Ubaldo and Angela (Moschetti) Merlino. Elizabeth resided in Colorado most of her life. In her youth she attended Canon City High School and the University of Colorado at Boulder. She later lived in New York City and Los Angeles before settling in Colorado Springs to raise her family. She worked at St. Mary's High School and later in the medical administration field. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and taking care of her home, children and grandchildren. Elizabeth is survived by her son, Brian (Laura) Baldwin Varney; daughter, Amy (Jeff) Varney Underwood; granddaughter, Katie Elisabeth Varney and grandson, Casey James Hendren. Her son, Dean Carl Varney preceded her in death. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, November 28, 2011 at 11:00a.m., Swan Law Cascade Chapel. Graveside service will follow at the Lakeside Cemetery, 1008 Elm Street, Canon City at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
